REGIONAL SEED MONEY PRIZES OF $1,000 EACH
All submissions will be considered by the sponsoring banks for the $1,000 seed money prizes. Winners of these prizes will also have the option to invest $500 of the prize money to enroll in an online, for-credit Social Entrepreneurship College course at the University of Florida ($500 will cover the total costs of enrollment).
Ashoka’s Youth Venture and University of Florida have collaborated to create a distance learning course on social entrepreneurship that will confer college credit o the team leader for venture from UF just for taking a chance on your dreams to affect positive, lasting change. The class is built around practical exercises that lead up to the creation or improvement of an action plan from which you can launch or scale a for-profit or non-profit. This is an opportunity to bolster your knowledge, build out your support network, and increase your impact.)
Regional Prize distribution:
Region 1: Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, and Washington.
Region 2: Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.
Region 3: Arkansas, Colorado, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas.
Region 4: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee.
Region 5: Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, Ohio, Virginia, Washington D.C., and West Virginia.
Region 6: Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Vermont.
Seed money prizes must be spent on venture-related expenses (receipts will be required).
Six (6) NATIONAL FINALIST PRIZES will win an all-expenses-paid trip to Washington DC in May 2013 to learn more about the retail banking industry and to compete in a Pitch Off for the Audience Choice Award and the Grand Prize
Each National Finalist individual or team will receive one (1) all-expenses-paid trip for the venture team leader and, if the team leader is under 18 years of age, one parent or guardian, to Washington, D.C. in May 2013, to compete in a Pitch-Off; a profile of the venture and its team or entrepreneur on the Youth Venture website; and support from Youth Venture staff in advancing the venture through individualized coaching sessions and other support.
Two (2) NATIONAL GRAND PRIZES
One talented individual or group will receive the National Grand Prize of $15,000 after competing in a Pitch-Off with the other 5 finalists in Washington, D.C. The attendees at the Pitch Off will also vote for their favorite “pitch” and award one of the finalists with a $5,000 Audience Choice Award! The winner of the National Grand Prize will not be eligible for the Audience Choice Award.
